The following was received from the Wildwood Precinct.
"Several recent questions have arisen regarding the use of ATVs, Go-Carts, Minibikes
and Mopends on streets in Wildwood. The use of these vehicles is governed by the road.
Public Streets: Go-Carts and Minibikes are not permitted
on public streets at any time. ATV's and Mopeds can only be operated on public streets by licensed drivers. Both
ATVs and Mopends have additional restrictions for operation on public streets. Children or unlicenced drivers are
prohibited from operating ATVs, Go-Carts, Minibikes or Mopeds on public streets at any time.
Private Streets or Private Property: ATVs, Go-Carts,
MiniBikes and Mopeds cannot be operated on private streets or private property without the written permission from
the property owner. In a subdivision, on private streets and common ground, permission should be obtained from
the subdivision association."
The following is an extract from the Journal.
"Two-wheeled, motorized scooters have become a hot new toy for many kids living in Wildwood....The St Louis County Police Department, which patrols Wildwood under contract, has begun an effort to inform people that the devices cannot be ridden on sidewalks or streets....When officers see the scooters being operated, they'll try to make parents aware that the devices are illegal before we get too hasty with issuing summonses said Capt Crews of the Wildwood Precinct....Most parents buying these things for their kids have no clue they won't be able to legally operate them, he said....Wildwood residents can call police at 636-458-9194 if they have problems in their neighborhood."
